About AI Safety Connect

AI Safety Connect (AISC) is a high-level event series that assists frontier AI policymakers, entrepreneurs, labs and companies, and investors in exploring practical pathways toward safe and beneficial advanced AI that enables human flourishing. We operate as a companion series, strategically following major international events such as the UN General Assembly, AI Summits, and key academic conferences to enable high-quality dialogue and collaboration on effective AI safety and governance coordination.

Since our launch at the February 2025 Paris AI Action Summit, AISC has attracted a global audience of top AI safety technical experts and government officials. In September 2025, AISC convened over 400 high-level participants during the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly, and in February 2026, AISC hosted the third edition of its flagship event during the India AI Impact Summit. AISC continues to expand as a Track 1.5 and 2.0 diplomacy platform, building bridges between governments, frontier labs, and civil society in the pursuit of responsible global AI safety coordination.

The Opportunity

AISC convenes some of the most influential figures in global AI governance — heads of state, ministers, frontier lab executives, leading researchers, and major institutional investors — in high-trust, high-stakes settings across Geneva, New York, Davos, Singapore, and beyond. The stories that emerge from these convenings have significant implications for the trajectory of AI governance worldwide, and AISC requires a senior media professional to ensure they reach the right audiences.

We are seeking a PR & Media Consultant to own AISC’s media strategy and provide expert, on-the-ground press support during flagship events. This is a retainer-based engagement for a senior professional who can operate at the intersection of AI policy, international diplomacy, and media — someone who understands the sensitivities of off-the-record environments and the opportunities of well-timed public engagement.

You will serve as AISC’s strategic media advisor on a continuous basis and as our on-site press coordinator during major convenings. Between events, you will drive proactive media engagement, build journalist relationships, and advise leadership on positioning and narrative strategy.

Scope of work

※ Strategy

Own AISC’s media strategy, defining target outlets, priority narratives, and an annual media roadmap aligned with the programming calendar.

  • Advise on positioning and messaging for each event cycle, including which angles to lead with, which audiences to prioritize, and optimal timing for outreach.

  • Identify proactive media opportunities tied to policy moments, op-ed windows, and emerging news hooks in the AI governance space.

  • Coach Nico and Cyrus on media engagement, preparing talking points, interview briefs, and key messages ahead of press interactions.

  • Monitor the media landscape for threats and opportunities relevant to AISC’s positioning, and advise leadership accordingly.

※ Press & Media Relations

Maintain and grow a journalist and media contact list across AI, technology policy, and international affairs.

  • Pitch AISC stories, op-eds, and event coverage to target outlets on an ongoing basis.

  • Draft and distribute press releases and media advisories in advance of flagship events.

  • Build and sustain ongoing relationships with key journalists and podcasters who cover AI governance, technology policy, and international affairs.

  • Monitor media coverage and compile regular performance reports.

  • Direct and collaborate with AISC’s Creative & Content Manager on media-related deliverables, ensuring alignment between media strategy and organizational communications.

  • Other PR duties as required to support AISC’s communications objectives and public profile.

※ Event Media Support

  • Provide on-the-ground media coordination during flagship events, including press logistics, journalist hosting, real-time pitching, and interview facilitation.

  • Conduct pre-event media outreach to secure committed coverage from target outlets.

  • Manage press accreditation and journalist attendance for each convening.

  • Produce rapid-turnaround event content for media distribution, including key quotes, outcome summaries, and photographs.

  • Deliver a post-event media report with coverage analysis and recommendations for future cycles.

Engagement Model

Monthly Retainer + Event Surge

  • Ongoing monthly retainer covering strategy, media relationship development, proactive pitching, and advisory services.

  • Surge capacity around flagship events, with on-site presence expected for approximately 3–4 convenings per year.

  • Retainer terms, compensation structure, and event-specific scope to be discussed with qualified candidates.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Significant experience in PR, media relations, or strategic communications, with a track record of securing coverage in reputable outlets.

  • Experience working in or around high-level convenings, multilateral forums, diplomatic contexts, or think tank and policy organization communications.

  • Comfortable operating in sensitive, off-the-record environments where discretion is essential.

  • Strong media network in technology, policy, or international affairs.

  • Excellent writing skills, with the ability to produce press releases, talking points, and media briefs under tight timelines.

  • Available for international travel during event windows across locations such as Geneva, New York, Davos, and rotating international venues.

Strongly Preferred

  • Established journalist network in AI, technology policy, or AI governance specifically.

  • Experience advising senior leaders or principals on media strategy and public positioning.

  • Familiarity with the global AI safety and governance landscape, including key institutions, policy processes, and actors.

  • Experience with both proactive and reactive media management in high-profile or politically sensitive contexts.

  • Existing relationships with outlets covering AI governance, such as specialist technology, policy, and international affairs publications.
